Could this be the missing puzzle piece...
I was recently recommended a book by a fellow medical mum friend. I read the book from cover to cover and have since encouraged other medical mum friends of mine to do the same.
The unique approach shared in this book is something I'd yet to come across.
Approximately 70 years ago, the founder of Doman International and The Doman Method, Glenn Doman set about to change the way children and adults with special needs were treated. Back then, institutionalisation was common and considered socially acceptable. Glenn, however, did not agree. He set about learning as much as possible and gathering a team of like-minded individuals to change the outcome for brain injured children, and ultimately make them well.
They devised programmes to help with many areas of development including mobility, communication, vision and hearing.
Fast forward to today and Doman International continue to empower parents with the tools and knowledge to help their special needs children achieve their potential.
Their success stories are nothing short of miraculous.

After completing the book, I arranged a call with them to discuss how we could learn more and have them support us to create a bespoke progamme for Oakley.
Tom and I have enrolled in their online parent course starting this month (January 2024). We will learn about their methods in much more detail and begin to create a home programme for Oakley with their remote support.
Later this year we will be flying out to meet them in their Europe branch in Italy for a full evaluation and creation of a bespoke 6 month programme.
I am extremely excited about this new direction and believe this could well be the missing puzzle piece.
